The latest game from the makers of Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series is almost here: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will release on March 22. The development team at From Software has embraced a completely different aesthetic with Sekiro, which takes place in late 16th century Sengoku period Japan. You play as a shinobi who has pledged to protect a young lord, but when the lord is kidnapped by a samurai, the shinobi's arm is severed. The nimble warrior, who becomes known as "the one-armed wolf," eventually gets fitted with a prosthetic arm that can be customized with various tools, and using stealth and powerful ninja abilities, he sets out to rescue the lord, taking down all enemies in his path.
The president of From Software emphasized that Sekiro is not part of the Soulsborne series and recently told GameSpot that Sekiro is "probably even more challenging than previous From games." That said, death is also handled differently in Sekiro--it can be used as a helpful tactic, but use it too often, and you'll lose progress. So if you're a fan of Bloodborne and Dark Souls, know that Sekiro is a brand new adventure with major changes to the previous games' formulas.
