Larian Is Asking if PS5 Players Would Like a Baldur’s Gate 3 Physical Release-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 6:23 AM

Larian Studios is asking fans if they would like a Baldur's Gate 3 physical release on PlayStation 5.

This isn't to say that this is actually happening, but Larian's Michael Douse has bumped a Twitter post from another user who has been asking if players would like to see a release on disc. In a follow-up tweet, Larian's Director of Publishing said that, if this were to happen, it would be on two separate discs.

  You mean two discs

To date, Baldur's Gate 3 is only available digitally on both PlayStation 5 and PC, although the game is getting a physical PS5 release in Japan later this year - back in August it was confirmed that Japanese publisher Spike Chunsoft will release the title on disc, and some days ago, it was revealed that a Japanese physical release is happening on December 21. Unfortunately, this only applies to Japan and there hasn't been a word about a physical release in other regions.

Let's hope that there's enough actual interest for a physical release for this gem. We'll keep you posted.

Baldur's Gate is available now for PC and PlayStation 5. The game is also coming to Xbox Series X|S later this year. Here's what we wrote about the cRPG in our review:

"Even though knowledge of the D&D 5th edition ruleset helps, it is hardly a requirement to enjoy Baldur's Gate 3 to the fullest. While the game doesn't hesitate to throw at the player all sorts of terminology, it does an excellent job of explaining things with contextual tutorials every time a new mechanic is introduced. While dice rolls dictate every combat action, most are done automatically, so knowing exactly what dice are used for the Fighter attack rolls, for example, doesn't really make or break the experience. The same goes for Saving Throws and the like. D&D players will love the faithful adaptation of the tabletop's RPG mechanics, and everyone else will enjoy the game just as much without really knowing what all these rolls and numbers that pop up at times actually do, although it helps when using skills that give an advantage on certain rolls."
