Photo Credit: team-dignitas.netTeam Dignitas announced today that they would no longer require the services of Steven 'Korok' Ashworth with immediate effect.
Charlie 'Monolith' Yang the Dignitas Dota 2 manager was quoted on their official site explaining that the reason was due to the fact that Korok has been busy with school work which also caused him to miss the recent trip to Korea in order to take part in the Nexon Invitational Super Match.
"With Korok busy with school and regrettably missing the trip to Korea, he will be leaving the team. He's still a prolific player and I'll miss him as a person, but unfortunately he will no longer be part of the team and I wish him the best of luck in whatever he pursues in the future."
With MLG Columbus starting on the 22nd of November it leaves Team Dignitas with less than two weeks to find a replacement in order to secure their placement at the tournament which guarantees at least $49,000 (50% of the total prize pool) for finishing in first place.
Update: Our own Aaron 'Spit-wad' Stern was able to speak to both Monolith and Korok earlier today who provided him with their own quotes.
Speaking to Monolith, the Dignitas Dota 2 manager:
"Personally, I'm sad to see Korok go. Our's [The NA scene] is a scene that is still struggling to support itself and many players have to have other commitments other than just Dota. Steven had a lot of school work; 2 finals and a project during the Korea week. He tried to excuse himself from those but was ultimately denied. He was under a lot of stress and he couldn't make his way to Columbus."
Speaking to Korok he told Aaron that he was removed due to the fact who wasn't able make the commitments that were required of him and after being given the choice whether to go on or not he decided that it would be best for both parties to part ways. Korok said he has no immediate plans for his future besides focusing on school and that he would continue to play Dota on a more casual basis.
