Konami of Europe has announced that it has secured the European publishing rights to Video Systems' upcoming F1 World Grand Prix II for the Dreamcast and F1 World Grand Prix 2000 for the PlayStation 2. F1 WGP II will be the company's second Dreamcast release, while F1 WGP 2000 will be its first game for the PS2.
"Konami has experienced an excellent year, and from what I've seen of the rest of their 2000 line-up, I am sure they will distribute F1 WGP II to the best of their abilities," said Koji Furukawa, CEO at Video Systems. "We were seeking a distributor who has strong links throughout all the European territories, and Konami came up trumps."
"One of our primary aims is to establish Video Systems as a global player in Europe and North America. Konami is our first step in Europe for what will ultimately be world domination in the Formula 1 racing-simulation video game arena," said Michael Lancaster, project manager at Video Systems.
Video Systems plans to further infiltrate the Western markets and firmly establish its presence as it has in Japan. It feels that this latest distribution agreement with Konami is only the first step toward its global distribution goals. It expects this partnership to facilitate those ends.
