It wasn't such a long time ago that Ubi Soft announced the opening of a Chinese office to expand into the largely untapped Chinese market. With the number of gamers rising in China, it's expected that the country will be one of the fastest-growing markets in the next couple of years.
GameSpot News has learned that Konami is following suit, as the company announced today that it will open an office in Shanghai. Konami Software Shanghai Inc. will start operating on October 1, and it will be adapting Konami's products for the Chinese market and recruiting talented developers for future projects. While Konami Software Shanghai is expected to intially employ around 80 staff members, the company plans to grow rapidly to around 200 employees in the near future.
Konami Software Shanghai is the second company under the Konami brand to be formed outside of Japan. The Konami group currently operates nine consumer-software development companies in Japan and the US.
