Konami is said to be "looking into" its region locking of the PC version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, ahead of its release on January 9.
As it stands, customers purchasing digital copies of Metal Gear Rising cannot currently redeem the codes outside of the country they are located in. As a Steamworks title, users are unable to play the game unless their copies of the game are successfully redeemed within the Steam client.
SavyGamer reports that the game is also completely unavailable in Ireland, India, and Japan, and that it is impossible to use Steam to gift copies of the game to other regions.
News of the game's region locking surfaced over the weekend, with many fans taking to forums and social media to ask Konami to reconsider its stance on the situation.
Writing on Twitter, Platinum Games creative producer JP Kellams said "Just letting everyone know: First thing I did in the office today was talk about the MGR region lock thing. Konami are looking in to it."
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 2013.
