TOKYO--According to retailer reports in Japan, Square Enix plans to launch a trading card game based on the Kingdom Hearts franchise on November 11. The release will be simultaneous with the Game Boy Advance entry in the series Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, which features a card-based battle system.
Starter packs for the card game will cost 1,280 yen ($11), and they will include 41 cards, a rulebook, and a playing mat. Booster packs, which will contain five cards each, will cost 143 yen, or about $1.25. Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series who want to build up a complete collection of the cards may consider buying a box set, which contains 24 booster packs for 3,432 yen ($31). The card game will have 91 cards in total: 22 common, 21 uncommon, 21 rare, and 27 "super-rare."
Also on the game's launch day, Square Enix will release a 16,080 yen ($147) limited edition package that contains the Game Boy Advance title, a specially branded Game Boy Advance SP system, and a carrying strap fashioned out of miniature "playing cards."
