Square Enix surprised the world by announce that they've begun development on Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Thus far there is no planned release date or release window, but it'll be out on the PS4 when it does release.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will connect the previous story to Kingdom Hearts III.

　　Instead we have a long and curiously titled game that's a remaster of a remaster. But, it's not only a simple remaster. Also included will be Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage, which is a completely new episode that takes place after the original Birth by Sleep that should provide the nexus between the original adventures of Sora and the story in Kingdom Hearts III

　　A new movie is also included, Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Black Cover, that gives us a little bit more insight into the story of the Foretellers and it also connects the history of the series together.

　　So, it seems that the Internet with it's rumors was right all along. A new adventure for Sora, plus being able to enjoy the original games on the PS4, which isn't a bad deal considering. Is it an attempt to increase the hype before the launch of Kingdom Hearst III? Perhaps, but with the inclusion of actual new content that can bridge the gap, the hype train is thus also a substantial locomotive with real cargo, not just empty containers.
