The first full-length trailer for Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon has arrived, giving fans a first look at the Oscar-winning director's highly anticipated next film.
The movie adapts David Grann's celebrated 2017 book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. The film tells the story of the Reign of Terror in the 1920s when members of the Osage Nation were murdered one by one after huge deposits of oil were discovered under their land in Oklahoma.
It also digs into the formation of the modern-day FBI under J. Edgar Hoover, which was established to solve the case. The movie changed significantly over the course of its production due to the input of local Osage Nation members, star Lily Gladstone says.
"It's a different movie than the one [Scorsese] walked in to make almost entirely because of what the community had to say about how it was being made and what was being portrayed," Gladstone said.
Killers of the Flower Moon stars Leonardo as Ernest Burkhart, Robert De Niro as William Hale, Gladstone as Mollie Burkhart, and Jesse Plemons as Tom White. The film also features John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Scott Shepherd, William Belleau, and the singers Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell.
It's Scorsese's first movie since 2019's The Irishman for Netflix.
Killers of the Flower Moon comes to theaters with a limited release on October 6 before going wide on October 20. The streaming version for Apple TV+ will follow after that.
