Following the passing of Isao Okawa, Tetsu Kayama, co-CEO of Sega Corporation, is expected to be named the new president of the company. Kayama will be officially appointed to the position after a shareholders meeting in June, according to the Japanese publication Nihon Keizai Shimbun. In the meantime, Yoshiji Fukushima, a Sega director, will become acting chairman of the company. Sega has declined to comment on Okawa's successor at this time.
Okawa died on Friday of heart failure at a Tokyo hospital. He was 74 years old. Sega shares were down by more than 5 percent on Monday at 1,839 yen, likely as a result of the uncertainly in its top-level management caused by Okawa's passing.
