The comic book game that was in development at Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios has been canceled, its founder Christofer Sundberg has announced.
"Unfortunately, it ended up never happening," Sundberg told Game Informer. "It's always heartbreaking when a project gets canceled, but that's unfortunately the reality we live in. Not all projects survive."
Avalanche announced the game in 2012, but never gave any solid information about it. Sundberg previously said it was not going to be a Superman game, but what about Iron Man?
"I can't comment on that," Sundberg said to Game Informer.
The cancellation of Avalanche's comic book game was not the most devastating development in the company's history, Sundberg said, because when the game was canned, many of the developers on the project filled open positions on Mad Max.
Avalanche's current projects include Just Cause 3 and Mad Max, both of which are due out in 2015. The Swedish studio is also working on an unannounced mobile title that will be released this year, and it continues to run free-to-play hunting game, The Hunter.
