John Krasinski Will Play Superman In The DC League Of Super-Pets-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 8:34 AM

Actor John Krasinski (The Office, Jack Ryan) has revealed that he will be voicing Superman in the upcoming animated movie DC League of Super-Pets. The film will be in theaters on May 20, 2022.

Announced earlier this year, the movie will star Dwayne "The Rock'' Johnson as Krypto the Super-Dog. On Twitter, Krasinski said that he has "always wanted to do a buddy movie with The Rock" and added "these are the roles we were born to play!" Plot details are still relatively light, but the basic premise involves Superman going out of town, and it's up to his pet dog and a flying cat to stop crime while the Man of Steel is on vacation.

Johnson will produce the film, along with Patricia Hicks and Jared Stern. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, and Nicholas Stoller are executive producing. None of Johnson's co-stars in the film are yet cast. Stern (The Internship) will write and direct the film, with Sam Levine (Wreck-It Ralph) co-directing.

This is far from the only big-name project on the horizon from Johnson. Also set in the DC universe, there's Black Adam, which is due out July 29, 2022. The DC movie reportedly began filming in April, and its impressive cast also includes Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. The Old Guard's Marwan Kenzari was also cast in a mystery role. Black Adam recently wrapped production in July, and DC FanDome this year kicked off with a first-look.

In the new book Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of The Office, Krasinski revealed the beloved sitcom was going to feature a Season 8 plotline where his character Jim cheated on his series-long love interest Pam. Krasinski refused to shoot such scenes.
