Updated article with an interview featuring Jeyo

onGamers: Ok, so I guess the best place to start would be that you obviously left the EG roster you had been part of for the past year. was columbus the make or break for that specific line-up you were part of after TI3?

Jeyo: Obviously things didn't work out the way we wanted to with the roster, so everyone agreed to part ways, it was the best solution for both sides, I don't think Columbus was the only thing that was the problem. There were a lot more issues than that.

onGamers: I think something that was most obviously a problem for the post-TI3 roster was that you and Clinton 'Fear' Loomis switched roles to seem to accomodate the entire team's playstyle. Was the role-switching on your part something you consider a mistake, or was your style of playing not compatible with the rest of the EG roster?

Jeyo: I think the constant role switching was probably a mistake, we had no natural support players coming in to the roster, And a lot of our players were more suitable to other roles than the ones they were assigned with.

onGamers: Obviously SADBOYS (the team currently consisting of Fear, Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev, Saahil 'Universe' Arora, Ludwig 'Zai' Wåhlberg and Peter 'PPD' Dager) are looking to become the new EG roster. When were you all effectively released, and how soon did EoT express interest in having you join their roster?

Jeyo: EoT's captain actually just messaged me last week if I was interested in playing KDL for 1 season.

onGamers: So were the NSL 3 grand finals ever discussed between you when you joined, or was KDL the main focus?

Jeyo: KDL is the main focus, the plan was for me to stay there for the whole season. Their manager was actually the one that asked me if I could come as soon as possible to play NSL.

onGamers: Ok, so if we focus on NSL, it's arguably the tournament with the largest prizepool aside from TI2 you've ever played in, and you are currently on the team that's the realistical favorite to win it. How has your replacement of Jang 'jum0ng' Sungbeum impacted the team so far?

Jeyo: I can't really agree to say that we're favourites to win it, I've actually only practiced with them for one day online and I was playing with delay, but it's been good since 3 of them are pinoys and I can fluently speak their language so communication isnt definitely an issue. Most of them have naturally good teamwork, I think my addition would definitely help them gain some confidence and for me to make their individual skill/strategy as best as possible.

onGamers: The communication aspect is interesting, given that you still now have Mark 'Cast' Pillar and Kwang 'Pyung' Pyeong on the team. Do you communicate in English, or do you work like Na'Vi does with Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov who mediates between English and Russian?

Jeyo: it depends since only 1 person doesnt speak Filipino any play that is made between the 4 of us is communicated in Filipino, while team calls are made in English. Cast usually just leads in English because he forms the support duo with Pyung. No one is really left out, everyone is very familiar with English/Filipino with the exception of Pyung, although I've heard they've been teaching him a few words.

onGamers: As jum0ng was the offlaner of the team, I think it's safe to assume that you will be playing in the offlane position. Do you think that your constant flux in positions over the past half year has helped your understanding of the game overall, or did you prefer playing in your original mid position?

Jeyo: It has helped me understand the purpose of the roles but I'm always going to say that time is the most important aspect of this game, time that is being used to master your craft, playing the same role/hero over and over. I'm going to be playing mid for the team and try to bring back myself back to form.

onGamers: When you joined EG, you were famed for your Templar Assassin/Invoker picks. How does 6.80 then feel for you as you return to the midrole and seeing the two heroes being back in the meta?

Jeyo: it's going to be really interesting since I haven't played these 2 heroes in matches for a long time, but Invoker in general has been getting really popular these days, I'm very excited to see since I've played these 2 heroes quite a lot.

onGamers: Finally, I guess it would be fitting to look at where your sites are aimed after KDL 1. Will remaining in Korea be an option for you or will you return to Canada after the season, and will you continue to participate in competitive Dota teams and tournaments?

Jeyo: Nothing is for sure yet, I'm only going to stay there for a month, I'll probably still be playing competitive a little and go to school.

onGamers: Ok, thanks for all of your answers.

  (Original article)

As the grand finals of the third season of the Nexon Sponsorship League is only a mere five days away, EoT Hammer, who qualified through the winner bracket of the tournament, have today revealed that they will be replacing Jang 'jum0ng' Sungbeum with Jio 'Jeyo' Madayag, former carry/mid player for team Evil Geniuses.

EoT Hammer posted on Facebook that the Canadian player had landed in Seoul earlier in the day, and will begin his practice for the upcoming finals immediatley. The decision to replace Sungbeum came after the former offlaner told the team that he had to tend to his family, that were going through an emergency. No further information about said circumstances have been shared with the public.

Madayag's addition to the team means that the squad now consists of four Filipino players, and one Korean. This in turn has sparked controversy within the Dota 2 community as the Nexon Sponsorship League is looking to become more dominated by foreign players in the future, instead of fostering the still growing, and increasingly unstable Korean Dota 2 community.

Team Zephyr's jungle player Kevin 'Purge' Godec shared his thoughts on the subject in a corresponding reddit thread on the Dota 2 subreddit.

Frankly it feels a little weird to me personally, but due to the circumstances(especially) they only had 4 players and they NEED a 5th to play, so it isn't really fair of us to question them needing a 5th.

LANs feel to me like you go in with your 5 and you stick with it, but this is frankly not possible in most cases(shit happens), and you shouldn't really be playing a tournament(that has a globally competitive prizepool) and not expect teams to pick up really good talent to compete.

Plus it happens ALL THE TIME in online tournaments spanning a few months.

So it feels kinda weird to me in my heart, but logically I know there is nothing wrong with it, and at the least it is going to result in our team practicing harder, which is a very good thing (temporarily and in the long run).
