Wrestler Jeff Hardy is an artist. Whether it is the paint on his face, his clothes, or the way he mows his lawn--before his brother ruined it--you're always going to get something avant-garde. This also includes the way he announces he's going to be wrestling for AEW.
In the backstage area of Hardy's meet & greet acoustic concert tour, the former WWE wrestler was interviewed by Jared Myers--longtime fan of "The Charismatic Enigma." What sounds like the warmup acts are on stage, the music is blasting, and Hardy's handler is directing people over the sounds of Hardy's soft voice. However, at one moment during this symphony of sound, Hardy announces something big: He will be wrestling for AEW. Check out the video below.
"I'm 44 now, and I'm going to AEW," Hardy says as a wicked guitar solo plays in the background, which drowns out everything in the foreground, just before a round of cheers arise from an unseen audience, making you think they're also excited for Hardy's move. "I'm so excited. Until this morning, I didn't really know... [inaudible] I'm so nervous."
Hardy and Myers then embraced in a hug as a soft rock song began with a male crooner wooing the audience before him. AEW has yet to confirm this news with its typical "[Wrestler] is All Elite" announcement on social media. Hardy's brother, Matt, has been wrestling with AEW since March 2020.
As to when Hardy will appear on AEW programming, that's unclear at this time--unless it was said during the video and drowned out by rock 'n roll. Hardy was one of the 80+ wrestlers released from WWE in 2021 due to reported budget cuts across the company. Meanwhile, AEW has been picking up some of the best released superstars from WWE and the independent scene, including Malakai Black, Brody King, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and more recently, the wildly-entertaining Danhausen.
