If you were wondering whether directing Aquaman gave James Wan a taste for superheroes, the answer appears to be no. James Wan, acclaimed director of films like Insidious and The Conjuring, is teaming up with Universal Pictures to make a new monster movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While he will not direct the film, he will produce it through his production company Atomic Monster.

　　Universal has a long tradition of making some pretty monumental monster movies, including films like Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula, and The Invisible Man. Now, after the success of the remake of The Invisible Man, it seems James Wan aims to make good use of his horror movie chops and contribute to the legacy.

　　The plot is reported to center around a group of teens who figure out that their neighbor is using their basement for nefarious purposes, namely, creating a monster. One would venture to guess that the writer, Robbie Thompson, is a fan of Mary Shelley. Thompson was a writer and co-executive producer of the CW show Supernatural and currently writes for Netflix's Cursed.

　　There is no official release date for the film yet, and it has yet to be titled, but curiosity abounds about how this new monster plans to wreak havoc.
