Screenwriter and director James Gunn (Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy) is currently working on another DC Comics project for TV or film, according to the man himself. Due to the magic of Twitter, Gunn's announcement of his six-year wedding anniversary to actor Jennifer Holland (Peacemaker) turned into a stray fan question yielding this confirmation.
Gunn didn't share any details on what the DC property is, nor its destination. But it is also confirmation of something we also technically already knew--that Gunn is supremely busy. The Peacemaker series, expected to hit HBO Max in January 2022 is due out next from him--in addition to a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and all this after The Suicide Squad came out this past summer.
Yes, I'm developing another DC project besides Peacemaker.

Based on first looks on the Peacemaker TV show that have recently come out, the series is expected to take place after the events of The Suicide Squad, but it will also feature flashback scenes. The HBO Max series will focus on Peacemaker joining a new team of "black ops combating something catastrophic that's facing the planet," according to Gunn, who wrote all of the series and directed five episodes.
Not many details are known about the upcoming series with even Gunn shutting down rumors of a Bane cameo or appearance. The Suicide Squad turned out to be a huge hit for Warner Bros./HBO Max, with Peacemaker having been announced before the movie even came out. It is possible Gunn will reveal more details at DC FanDome on October 16, since according to a press release he will be attending the event.
