Nov 1, 2024 9:38 AM

The sequel to the Stephen King movie It is on the way, and now we've learned two more actors who may be a part of it. Variety reports that James McAvoy (Split, Chronicles of Narnia) and Bill Hader (Trainwreck, SNL) are in discussions to star in the sequel.

In 2017's It, a group of children were terrorized by a killer clown. In the sequel, those who survived return to Derry, Maine as adults to face their fears again. McAvoy is reportedly going to play Bill (who was played by Jaeden Lieberher in the original), with Hader apparently playing the part of Finn Wolfhard's penis joke-loving character Richie Tozier.

Now Playing: The Biggest Movies To Watch In 2018

Jessica Chastain has already been confirmed to play the adult version of Beverly. Andy Muschietti, who directed the first It, told Variety in 2017 that he wanted to bring all the original actors for flashback sequences, but it remains to be seen if this will happen.

According to Variety's sources, no deals have been signed for McAvoy and Hader, with discussions described as being in the "early" stages. The script, which is being written by Gary Dauberman, is apparently not finished.

Muschietti is coming back to direct the It sequel, while Bill Skarsgard will play Pennywise again. The sequel will start shooting this summer ahead of its September 6, 2019 release date.

2017's It was a huge hit, making more than $700 million worldwide. The plan was to make two parts, but that hinged on the first being a success--it definitely was.
