Last week's mixed run for game companies continued Monday as Wall Street investors began to show confidence in the markets. Shares in Electronic Arts (ERTS) climbed 36 cents to $68.04. Jamdat Mobile (JMDT) shares rose 21 cents to close at $17.24, while shares in Midway (MWY) traded 21 cents higher at $10.39.

Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) shares advanced 18 cents, finishing at $40.35. Shares in Atari (ATAR) and Activision (ATVI) both rose by less than a dime, and Eidos (EIDSY) shares finally saw positive movement today, earning three cents to close at 69 cents.

Eidos lost nearly half its market cap last week after reporting a loss of $51 million.

Game retailers were hit especially hard Monday, with shares in Electronics Boutique (ELBO) sinking $1.02 to close at $38.47, while GameStop Corp. (GME) shares lost 63 cents, closing at $19.66.

Konami shares, which were unchanged during the past few sessions, declined 51 cents to $23.18 at the closing bell. Shares in Vivendi Universal (V) were down 43 cents to $31.14, while THQ Inc. (THQI) shares lost 6 cents, closing at $29.54.

On the Japanese markets, Nintendo shares fell 240 yen ($2.29) Monday to close at 11,420 yen ($108.82). Ubisoft shares, traded in Paris, closed .58 euros (78 cents) lower at 31.40.

Wall Street showed signs of recovery Monday after several rough sessions last week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 30.15 points to 10.804.51. The Nasdaq Composite Index was 9.44 points higher at 2,051.04, while the S&P 500 advanced 6.75 points to 1,206.83. However, crude-oil prices and interest rates continued to rise, keeping investor confidence at bay, according to Marketwatch.

  In the foreign markets...

In Asia, the Nikkei 225 Stock Index was lower as shares in chip companies like Advantest, Tokyo Electron, Elpida Memory, and NEC, all traded lower Monday. Taiwan's Taiex and South Korea's Kospi also fell, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose just .1 percent. In Korea, Samsung Electronics and Hynix Semiconductor were down. Europe's exchanges were mixed Monday.
