LAS VEGAS--Representatives at Intel divulged information regarding an upcoming revision to its Pentium 4 desktop processor today. The new lineup will initially consist of four processors, including the Pentium 4 630 (3.0GHz), 640 (3.2GHz), 650 (3.4GHz), and 660 (3.6GHz) chips. Each will come with 2MB of full-speed L2 cache, an adaptation of SpeedStep power management technology, and EMT64, Intel's 64-bit processing extensions. All four chips will work with existing motherboards, and availability is expected in the first quarter of 2005.
