Intel and AMD Price Drop Comes Early
Intel and AMD Price Drop Comes Early-October 2024
Oct 23, 2024 8:31 PM

Intel and AMD slashed prices on all their chips, Reuters has reported.

Intel announced on Monday that it had dropped prices on several Pentium and Pentium II processors a few days before the August 1 date that was reported earlier.

What can you expect to save on your next system upgrade? The killer big bad boy of the pack, Intel's Pentium II 300MHz chip, plummeted from US$1,981 to $851. On the lower end, the Pentium 233 MHz with MMX dropped from $594 to $386, the Pentium 200 MHz with MMX fell from $326 to $241, and the Pentium 150 MHz with MMX was reduced from $257 to $125.

Advanced Micro Devices also announced a similar price drop for its line of K6 processors. The AMD-K6/233 was reduced from $469 to $290, the AMD-K6/200 came down from $349 to $189, and the AMD-K6/166 moves to $109 from $244.

What does this mean for gamers? Fast chips make faster games and whatever your price limit, you really have no reason not to upgrade with prices like these.
