Some days ago, Insomniac Games rolled out Spider-Man 2 update 1.001.002 ahead of the game's global launch. Fast forward a few days, and the developer has now provided additional details about this day-one patch.
No patch notes were shared for the game's first update, but now, a few days before the game's release on PlayStation 5, the development team has advised those who will be playing the game from disc, to download this update before starting up the game. As shared via Twitter, this new day-one patch will be included automatically with the digital version of the game and will offer improvements for the opening sections of the game as well as other refinements, and additional accessibility options. We already mentioned some minor bugs in our review of the game, and hopefully, this update will address some of these.
"On October 20, you'll finally experience Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and we couldn't be more excited!", the message from the development team reads. "Since going gold, our team made notable enhancements to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 [on PS5] that we'd love for you to experience from the very beginning."
"The disc contains the entire game and is playable from start to finish with no patch or online requirement. But for the best experience, we highly encourage physical/disc-based players to download update Version 1.001.002 on launch day - prior to experiencing the opening mission of the game for the first time."
Insomniac adds, "This update features polish to the gold master version of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 available on disc, which improves the opening sections of the game and includes other general refinements to your Spidey experience, including some additional accessibility options."
Spider-Man 2 launches globally on October 20 for PlayStation 5. Here's what we wrote about the sequel in our launch review:
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 feels like the perfect, albeit safe, evolution of the formula first introduced with the 2018 game. With a highly emotional story, much-improved traversal, great visuals and performance, and industry-leading accessibility, this sequel is very likely to win over most fans of the original. However, a bigger shake-up may be needed for the inevitable Spider-Man 3.
