Red Storm Entertainment, the gaming company formed by author Tom Clancy, and IBM today announced a technology development agreement in which Red Storm will develop a game on IBM's Java-based technology, InVerse. Red Storm will in turn help IBM evolve the technology for use in Web applications that require large-scale, real-time collaboration.
Apparently, InVerse is suited to gaming applications because it can host a number of interactive, multi-user web sites like chat rooms and complex virtual communities. Red Storm will use the technology in Tom Clancy's Politika, which will preview at E3 and is set to ship in the fall. It will also release a game called Planet Texas next year.
