This post contains Westworld Season 1 spoilers.

One of the coolest and most informative parts of last night's Westworld Episode 3 was a flashback sequence in which we saw Anthony Hopkins' character, Dr. Ford, at a young age.

You might have been wondering, How the heck did they do that? Now, show creator Jonathan Nolan has revealed how the production company pulled it off--and it involved some movie magic.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Nolan at first joked, "Who's to say we didn't shoot it?" More seriously, he revealed that HBO and effects supervisor Jay Worth worked with a the Swedish production company Important Looking Pirates (ILP) to build the scene.

"The beautiful thing about working with Anthony Hopkins is he's had a long and storied career so when we're looking for references for how Tony looked in his 30s and 40s, you have a lot of material to work with," he said.

Read the full Entertainment Weekly interview to hear directly from Nolan and Westworld's other creator, his wife Lisa Joy, about a number of the key plot points of Episode 3.

The episode, called "The Stray," was one of the more intriguing episodes so far, answering some questions, but also bringing up many more. Viewers also saw a lot more of Steven Ogg, who played Trevor in Grand Theft Auto V. Episode 4 airs this Sunday--watch a teaser for it here.
