Homecoming Season 2 Releases In May, Watch The Sinister First Trailer-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 7:24 AM

For fans of tense and thrilling TV, Homecoming was one 2018's best shows. The dark and paranoid series was based on the acclaimed podcast and starred Julia Roberts. Homecoming Season 2 is set to hit Prime Video in May, and the first teaser has been released.

The teaser is very short and doesn't give any plot details away, but definitely sets a dark and sinister tone. It starts with new lead Janelle Monáe waking up very frightened in a boat in a huge lake. The rest of the promo is a quickly cut montage of disconnected scenes, while a voiceover says "You need to do what you think is right. But you must protect yourself--because nobody else will." Check it out below:

Although Roberts isn't returning for this season, it does feature several cast members from Season 1, including Stephan James as Walter Cruz and Hong Chau as Audrey. As well as Monáe, the new cast includes Chris Cooper (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) and Joan Cusack (the Toy Story movies). Homecoming Season 2 hits Amazon on May 22.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-creator Micah Bloomberg revealed that the show will expand the story of the first season, which focused on a sinister transition Geist facility, where soldiers returning from war are brainwashed into wanting to get back to the frontline. "Season 1 was so confined and suffocating," he said. "[Audiences] were wondering about the world outside the facility and season 2 is very much about the outdoors and the natural world, and people trying to get inside the Geist headquarters."

Eli Horowitz, who created the show with Bloomberg, also spoke about casting Monáe in the lead role. "[She] is just so compelling as a presence," he said. "She's very accomplished and known, but her persona is still that of a chameleon. There's a curiosity about her, and we weaved that into the character."
