Portkey Games has provided additional details about the size of Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch, including the game's day-one patch.
After releasing across other platforms earlier this year, the Switch version of Hogwarts will finally launch next month. The game will be made available both digitally and physically on Nintendo's hybrid platform, and on the game's official support page, file sizes have been revealed. According to Warner Bros., the game will receive a major day-one patch, which will weigh in at roughly 8GB. This means this update will be larger than the actual game on the cartridge (approximately 7GB). Those playing the game digitally will need to download roughly 15GB of data to install the main game and the update.
"For both our Deluxe Edition and Standard Edition, the cartridge size is approximately 7 GB", the support page reads. "Players should plan to accommodate for an additional 8 GB of space to allot for the needs of our anticipated Day 1 patch download. If you decide to get an extra language pack, you should plan for an additional 1.5GB download per language."
Quite the hefty day-one patch for sure, and it will be interesting to see what this update will include. We'll update you as soon as more information about this patch comes in.
Hogwarts Legacy is available worldwide now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The Switch version will launch on November 14th. Here's what we wrote about the magical game in our launch review earlier this year:
"So, long story short, I like Hogwarts Legacy and its story, but there are certainly some issues if you don't turn your brain off. While I'm rounding up, I should also say that once the game launched and I downloaded the update, the performance seemed to plummet on occasion. While I already saw a little slowdown when using Lumos, I started to see it even more, sometimes even when not using the spell. Performance-wise, I'm still not overly down on it, but there is room for improvement."
