Hogwarts Legacy – How To Open Eye Chests-December 2024
Dec 21, 2024 6:35 AM

Hogwarts Legacy features plenty of chests and treasures to discover as you explore the castle and its surroundings. While many will reward you with gear or a few coins, the odd yet-useful eye chests will give you a considerable amount of gold every time you release their lock.

And while they seem impossible to open at the start of the game, it becomes pretty easy when you learn a specific spell, Disillusionment. You don’t need to cast this charm directly on the eye chest, as it can only be used on yourself. Therefore, this guide will explain how to open eye chests in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to open Eyeball Chests in Hogwarts Legacy

You must first learn the Disillusionment charm to open eye chests in Hogwarts Legacy. Sebastian Sallow will teach you this spell during the Secrets of the Restricted Section main quest. Since you don’t have the Cloak of Invisibility, this enchantment represents the easiest way to reach places you shouldn’t be.

If you use Disillusionment on yourself, you will become almost invisible. You will still get detected if you walk near other people, but it works perfectly fine when you need to open eyeball chests.

If you stand near an eye chest, you will notice that its gaze will follow your every move, and if you approach it, you won’t have any option to open it. However, if you hide from the chest and use the Disillusionment charm on yourself, you can sneak past it without being detected. This way, you will finally be able to interact with the eye chest and release its lock.

Note that if you use the Disillusionment charm while the eyeball chest is looking at you, you won’t be able to open it. You must escape its gaze and then use the spell on yourself. Whenever you find an eye chest, it will reward you with 500 gold once you release its lock. There are plenty of eyeball chests in Hogwarts Legacy, and their reward is always the same. You can use this extra gold to buy potions, ingredients, recipes, and other valuable items for your adventure.

How to learn the Disillusionment charm

Hogwarts Legacy features plenty of spells to learn. While many are tied to the main story quests, others can be unlocked after completing side missions and assignments. Disillusionment falls under the first category, as you get it during the Secrets of the Restricted Section main quest.

Sebastian Sallow will teach you the basics of this enchantment. You will become almost invisible when you cast it, but enemies can still spot you when you get near them. You can power up this charm’s effects in the Talents menu, and amongst the best Talents to unlock in Hogwarts Legacy, you will find Human Demiguise. This will enable you to sprint while using Disillusionment. Sense of Secrecy I and II are also pretty valuable, as they will reduce your chances of being spotted by other characters when you cast this spell.

Once you complete the Secrets of the Restricted Section mission, the Disillusionment charm will be permanently added to your spells list. You can cast it on yourself to open eye chests, sneak past enemies, surprise them just before starting a fight, and much more. Make sure you make good use of it during your whole adventure.

And if you still need help with Hogwarts Legacy, you can check how to learn Alohomora and open locks, how to get a broom, and all Gobstone locations.
