In Hogwarts Legacy, you can use your broom to move around the map faster than simply walking. However, this valuable item won’t be available from the beginning of your adventure. You must progress through the main story until the Flying Class mission appears in your quest log. Fortunately, this happens quite early in the game, so you will have to wait just a few hours before you can start flying around Hogwarts and its surroundings.
You won’t be able to keep the broom you use in the mission after it ends, but you can purchase one in Hogsmeade. Here’s how to do that.
Then, a student named Everett Clopton will ask you to join him on a brief tour around the castle. After you land back in the courtyard where you first started the quest, Everett will suggest you visit Albie Weekes’ store in Hogsmeade. Here, you can finally purchase a broom. It will cost you 600 gold, regardless of the model you choose.
If you don’t have enough money, you can look for chests to open or sell gear you don’t need anymore at any shop. Remember that all the clothes you have acquired during your adventure will always be available as cosmetic items, so don’t worry about getting rid of stuff you don’t use.
You can press LB/L1 + B/O on Xbox and PlayStation or Tab + 3 on PC to equip the broom. However, using it is forbidden in certain areas. For example, you can’t ride it inside Hogwarts castle or in Hogsmeade. You will see a red symbol next to the minimap indicating this.
This mission will allow you to prove your flying skills by competing against Imelda Reyes, a Slytherin student, in a time trial. If you beat her, you can return to Mr. Weekes, and he will start working on a broom upgrade.
