Here's Why Assassin's Creed Syndicate Won't Have a Companion App-October 2024
Oct 30, 2024 7:35 AM

This year's Assassin's Creed Syndicate will be the first entry in the stealth-action series in years that won't have a dedicated companion app experience, Ubisoft confirmed in a statement today to Eurogamer.

"There will not be a companion app," a Ubisoft spokesperson told the site. "For Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the team wanted to focus all their efforts on the core experience."

Two recent entries in the series, Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, both had companion app experiences that offered a variety of second-screen features.

Unity's, for example, allowed users to view their gear statistics, access tutorials, and look at a map of the game's version of Paris. Meanwhile, Black Flag's offered an interactive world map and let you send your ships on missions, among other things.

Syndicate also will not have a multiplayer mode, something recent entries in the series offered players.

"The reason we are doing this is to really focus on the roots of the franchise," creative director Marc-Alexis Cote told GameSpot earlier this month. "That's why all nine studios are focused on delivering this single-player experience."

Syndicate launches October 23 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC version coming later. For lots more, check out our previous coverage and some images in the gallery below.
