Here Is A Very Wholesome Story About Bob Odenkirk-November 2024
Nov 5, 2024 11:45 AM

Actor Peter Diseth, who appears on Better Call Saul with star Bob Odenkirk, has shared a very nice and wholesome story about Odenkirk that may help brighten your day.

Diseth, who plays a lawyer who has many interactions with Odenkirk's Saul Goodman, shared a story on social media about how Odenkirk's assistant asked him to come rehearse scenes with him for the Season 3 episode "Sunk Costs." Diseth was a stay-at-home dad at the time and didn't feel comfortable taking his daughter into the studio. Another star of Odenkirk's ilk might have opted to just wait until the day of filming and do an on-the-spot rehearsal, Diseth said. But Odenkirk personally came to visit Diseth at his home to practice the scene, all the while Diseth had his child strapped to his chest.

"Bob cares about the show, he cares about the performances, he cares about his co-stars, and he knows a thing or two about being a dad to a little one. So, instead, he rode his bike over to my home and we rehearsed in a room downstairs. And when my daughter started to get fussy, and I strapped her to my chest, Bob didn't roll his eyes--he continued with the scene but started saying his lines in silly voices right to my baby girl who just laughed and laughed and laughed," Diseth said. "That's the kind of guy he is. He cares and he's caring. I hope like hell he gets a bevy of awards this year and/or next, because people who watch the show only get to see a fraction of his talent, compassion, and dedication."

True, Bob came to me for rehearsal because I had my kiddo. And then in season 4, Rhea offered me the very same kindness and rehearsed at my home too. Love those folks for ever and always. https://t.co/dvH70LQULX

Diseth actually initially shared this story in 2020, but it's making the rounds again this month.

The actor also took some time to praise Rhea Seehorn, who plays Kim Wexler on Better Call Saul. Diseth said Seehorn did a similar thing--she visited Diseth at home to rehearse to accommodate his schedule. Beyond extending that kindness to Diseth, Seehorn personally stopped Diseth and complimented his work after watching a scene.

"During a break in filming, when the crew was setting up a new shot, I was walking back to my chair when Rhea stopped me. She'd been watching the scene and wanted to compliment my work. I was feeling really hard on myself (the super simple action of throwing a paper towel in a trash can with a swinging lid while not mucking up the dialogue with the sound of it swinging shut was proving *ridiculously* difficult for me), and that she took the time to offer me some positivity was a true gift," Diseth said. "Rhea wasn't even working that day (I don't think), but she showed up anyway because she cares about the work, and she's *interested* in it all. I've seen her on set multiple times over the years watching and cheering on castmates when she's not on the clock. Because that's who she is: not just a brilliant actor, but a brilliant human. No one deserves more award-show hardware than Rhea."

Better Call Saul returns for its sixth and final season in April, with Part 1 coming April 18 and Part II landing in July.
