Sweden's Paradox Entertainment announced today that it is planning to release a special edition of its World War II strategy game this September. Hearts of Iron - Platinum will include a new scenario, thousands of new events, improved AI, and a revamped diplomatic system. Originally released in 2002, Hearts of Iron puts players in control of grand-scale forces across the globe from 1936 to 1947, roughly following the events of the war. Interestingly, the game was banned by the Chinese Ministry of Culture earlier this year for "distorting history and damaging China's sovereignty and territorial integrity." Paradox was unfazed, however, and is currently working on a sequel to Hearts of Iron, which should be available early next year.
