Earlier this morning, Minneapolis-based HeadGames started shipping Extreme Mountain Biking, the company's mountain-bicycle simulator, to over 10,000 national retail stores.
Licensed by Trek Bicycle Corp, Extreme Mountain Biking sports over eight real bikes and 12 riders and lets players test their mettle in a variety of events, including downhill racing, slaloms, and stunt competitions. The game's 15 levels are brought to life by a proprietary 3D engine, and players can choose from a number of different camera angles.
"Now bicycle enthusiasts can push it to the limit as they experience the ecstasy of the ascent and the freewheeling downhill challenge of Extreme Mountain Biking," says Dan Hammett, vice president of HeadGames Studios. "Players can hone their virtual cycling skills using some of the most technically advanced bikes on the market."
Extreme Mountain Biking is published by Activision and can be had for a suggested price of US$24.95.
