HBO's upcoming series from executive producers Misha Green (Underground), Jordan Peele (Get Out), and J.J. Abrams (Lost) finally has a release date. The drama horror series Lovecraft Country will debut on the premium cable network on August 16.
To go along with the announcement, HBO has released a new poster for the upcoming show. And if you're a fan of H.P. Lovecraft's horrific tentacle monsters, you'll probably dig this.
It's like a horror version of Mario Kart"Based on the novel of the same name by Matt Ruff, the ten-episode series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he journeys with his childhood friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) and his uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) on a road trip from Chicago across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father Montrose (Michael Kenneth Williams)," reads the official synopsis. "Their search-and-rescue turns into a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and monstrous creatures that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback."
Additional executive producers include Bill Carraro, Yann Demange, Daniel Sackheim, and David Knoller. Demange will direct Episode 1 and Sackheim will direct Episodes 2 and 3. Lovecraft Country will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
The first trailer of the series arrived in May, and more recently, HBO unleashed an exceptionally creepy teaser for the upcoming show.
