HBO's Insecure Will End With Season 5
HBO's Insecure Will End With Season 5-September 2024
Sep 23, 2024 12:34 AM

The critically acclaimed comedy Insecure will be ending after its upcoming fifth season, according to a release from HBO. Since starting in 2016, the show co-created by Issa Rae (The Hate U Give) and Larry Wilmore (The Office) has been a funny-awkward and insightful comedy about the Black female perspective as viewed through the lives of its two female protagonists.

"Issa has turned insecurity into an iconic form of comedy," said HBO's programming executive vice president Amy Gravitt. "The show is as incisive as it is heartfelt, and it has resonated strongly with its audience because of the deeply personal work that… the cast and the writers have put into it."

The show's fourth season received nine Emmy nominations including for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Issa Rae) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Yvonne Orji). The series won an Emmy for Single-Camera Picture Editing For a Comedy Series.

The show's first four seasons are available to stream on HBO Max. No release date has been set for the final season. On Twitter, Rae has indicated that it will likely be "soon." In the meantime, you can take a look at everything coming to HBO Max this month. Further over the horizon, it will be worth watching the streaming service for both an upcoming Gotham PD series and a Sex and the City revival.
