HBO Max is producing a new Batman podcast. The series is titled Batman: The Audio Adventures and will feature a voice cast that includes Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), and John Leguizamo (Bloodline).
As reported by Deadline, Batman: The Audio Adventures is a scripted original series that will be released by HBO Max in the fall. Wright will play Batman, with Dawson as Catwoman and Leguizamo as the Riddler. The show will take a comedic approach to the character, and will be influenced by the classic '60s Batman TV show, as well as the '90s series Batman: The Animated Series. It's written and directed by former SNL writer Dennis McNicholas and is separate from the Batman podcast that DC is producing for Spotify.
HBO has been increasing its audio output over the past couple of years. Other releases have included companion shows to the likes of Chernobyl and Lovecraft Country, an upcoming Band of Brothers series, and a spin-off from the acclaimed comedy-drama Insecure. Last year, DC's superhero rivals Marvel announced a deal with SiriusXM to produce a series of podcasts.
As well as playing Batman in the new podcast, Wright is also set to play Commissioner Gordon in the movie The Batman, which releases in March 2022. He'll also reprise the role of Felix Leiter in the much-delayed next Bond movie No Time To Die, which finally arrives in October.
