Hasbro Interactive announced Thursday that it will begin shipping the PC version of Worms Armageddon, the third and reportedly final game in the Worms series, by developer Team 17 on July 1. A PlayStation version of the software is scheduled for this fall.
Worms Armageddon will feature 33 newly crafted missions, new weapons and single-player modes, as well as the ability to play in randomly generated worlds. It will also include an Internet matchmaking service - Wormnet - which includes a global ranking system and team play.
"The news of the European launch of Worms Armageddon moved so quickly to the US that we needed to move up our launch plans in this country to fulfil the demands of loyal American fans," said Tom Nichols, Hasbro Interactive's director of marketing for the MicroProse brand. "We are thrilled with the enthusiastic response of our consumers, and we are eager to get the game in their hands."
