Sega's Saturn will be three years old in the US on Sunday, May 10. That's right, it will have been a mere three years since the system was sprung upon an unsuspecting public through a surprise release to a handful of retailers in the US. Now, while the PlayStation is just past its 2½-year point, the Saturn is nothing more than a fading star for most. But there are still games on the horizon.
If you can find them, you might want to take a moment to celebrate Saturn's birthday by going out and finding a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga (a fantastic game) and House of the Dead. Both are extremely hard to find, and most retailers were shipped only a few copies. Sega will soon begin offering both titles through its direct sales (1-888-SEGA-SALES).
As E3 approaches and the system currently known as Katana looms, it's hard to imagine where the Saturn will be in six months. But it's easy to imagine come fall 1999 that we'll have a brand-spanking-new Sega system to play.
Happy third birthday Saturn!
