Hands On With Biohazard 3
Hands On With Biohazard 3-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 2:34 AM

As you all should have heard by now, the events in Biohazard 3 take place in Raccoon City before and after the events in Resident Evil 2. With this said, and without trying to spoil the story, let's just say you'll come across familiar faces and locations. Revisiting places, like the Raccoon city police department, has an eerie yet exciting feel to it. You can't help but get the feeling that you're replaying Resident Evil 2 sometimes, since a lot of the camera angles in the new game are exactly the same as in the last one. You will, however, come across spots that you used to be able to get through, but they are now boarded up or blocked by debris.

With more zombies literally popping out of the woodwork, the game has a more action-orientated feel to it, especially if you start out on light mode. Light mode starts you out equipped with a machine gun and lots of ammo. But for the most part, Biohazard 3 plays and looks like Resident Evil 2, although you now have a new ability that lets you slip away from enemies that are too close.

Visually, the game looks the same. A lot of the same textures were used, so of course portions of the game are identical to the last. However, there seems to be a lot more different types of zombies running around - you'll notice some are fat, some are thin, some are tall, and so on. As in the last game, Biohazard 3 starts up with a beautiful 3D rendered intro that really gets you in the zombie-capping mood. If you have the means, I highly recommend that you download the clip. In addition, the game has a cool preview movie for Dino Crisis that you should check out.

Although it is still early in the game's development process, and the game is still hampered by Japanese text, Biohazard 3 looks to be more of the same, but, coming from a fan of the series, I think that's a pretty good thing. Check our preview next week for more details.
