At the end of the Xbox E3 2019 press conference, Microsoft finally gave us another look at the highly anticipated Xbox and PC shooter Halo Infinite. The game was first teased during last year's E3, but Microsoft and developer 343 Studios have remained relatively quiet about the sixth mainline Halo entry since then.
Not anymore. After detailing the upcoming Xbox hardware, code-named Scarlett (and known now as Xbox Series X), Xbox boss Phil Spencer announced that Halo Infinite will launch alongside the new hardware during Holiday 2020. That led into a cinematic trailer that set up the story for this entry. You can watch it for yourself above.

The cinematic trailer shows a UNSC soldier apparently stranded. He received an alert of a nearby vessel and went to call for help, and in the process discovered the Master Chief in survival mode. After a jolt of energy, Chief was revived, but the situation was still bleak. Cortana is MIA and enemies are pounding at the ship. As you may expect, Master Chief opted to confront the emerging threat head-on. A brief teaser after the title screen suggested that Cortana will return in some capacity. Her voice can be heard saying, "I chose you because you were special. I knew we would be perfect together. And I was right."
After the press conference, Microsoft shared a vague description of the game that says it finds "Master Chief on an all-new adventure as he uncovers the mysteries surrounding the appearance of The Pilot and the desolate remains of a Halo ring."
We apparently won't be hearing much more from the game for a while, as 343 says Halo Infinite is going dark until E3 2020.
Halo Infinite is coming to Xbox One and PC in addition to Scarlett, breaking the streak of Halo games that only launch on an Xbox console before getting PC ports.
Prior to E3, Microsoft said it was "going big," covering 14 first-party Xbox One titles and several third-party games. Microsoft has not disappointed when it comes to Game Pass either, revealing several new games for its subscription service. The studio also revealed its next-generation Xbox console.
