Halo Composer Wrote the Music for this Week's Video Game Awards Show-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 11:33 PM

The fanfare/theme music for this Friday's The Game Awards 2014 was composed by none other than Marty O'Donnell, who is perhaps best known for his work at Bungie on the Halo theme music.

Check out the video above to get a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process. Overall, O'Donnell says he hopes his music for the awards show will feel uplifting, anticipatory, and important.

The Game Awards 2014 take place in Las Vegas on Friday, December 5, starting at 6 PM Pacific / 9 PM Eastern. GameSpot will be at the show, and we'll have a list of winners as they're announced.

For now, you can see all of the nominees here.

O'Donnell created the iconic theme song for the Halo franchise and was in charge of the game's music and audio. He was also heavily involved in Destiny in a similar capacity, even collaborating with Beatles singer Paul McCartney for the game's theme song. After Bungie fired O'Donnell in April, and "without cause," O'Donnell says, he sued the company.

He has since been awarded $95,000 to cover unpaid wages following his termination. On top of that, an arbitrator later ruled that Bungie must return company shares to O'Donnell.
