With the world saved, the Prophet of Truth gutted, and all manner of Halo rings exploded, the fervor surrounding the third installment of Bungie's epic sci-fi shooter has by and large been relegated to the series' stalwart fans--and they've been busy.
The latest ingenious Halo 3 device may just revive the laser tag fad of the '90s with full-scale replicas of the Covenant Plasma Pistol and Plasma Rifle, as well as accompanying shield generator. Jasman Toys, which makes the Halo 3 weaponry, also plans to bring a Covenant Energy Sword to market sometime later this year.
More than just replicating the look and sound of the game's high-tech weaponry, Jasman Toys' armaments feature force feedback and moveable parts. The weapons also behave similarly to their digital counterparts, with the Rifle overheating after prolonged use and the Pistol firing in both burst and overcharge modes. True to the game, the shield generator, which doubles as a target, will also recharge if laser taggers are able to retreat to a safe hiding place before being fragged by pulses of light.
The swanky Pistol and Rifle come at a premium, retailing for $79.99 and $129.99, respectively.
