Gwent The Witcher Card Game, the upcoming card game based on the popular The Witcher 3 mini-game, is definitely one of the most popular games getting shown during this Gamescom 2016. Earlier today, I had the chance to attend a presentation and a hands-on session, and I also managed to learn something more regarding the single player campaigns that will most likely make The Witcher fans happy.
After the hands-on session, I asked about the possibility of seeing Iorveth from The Witcher 3 in one of Gwent The Witcher Card Game's single player campaign. While I wasn't given a straight answer, it was clear that they're at least thinking about it, as one member of the team noted how there's the Scoia'tel deck. As the single player campaign of Gwent The Witcher Card Game will be exploring "untold stories", as the member of the development team put it, we will be seeing plenty of old characters as well as brand new ones.
Regarding this matter, I also asked about the possibility of seeing stories set during the events of The Witcher books, which would definitely offer some nice insight on Geralt's relationship with members of his party who never appeared in the games for obvious reasons, like Cahir and Milva. Like for Iorveth, I haven't been given a straight answer, but the team seems pretty open to different ideas, as there's plenty of storytelling freedom with these "untold stories".
Gwent The Witcher Card Game launches on a yet to be confirmed release date on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A full hands-on preview will follow shortly, so stay tuned to learn more about the upcoming game from CDPR.
