According to retail sources, Capcom plans to release a PlayStation 2 version of its arcade shooter Resident Evil: Gun Survivor 2. Formerly titled Resident Evil: Fire Zone, the multiplayer game is based on Resident Evil Code: Veronica. In the game, the first player assumes the role of Claire Redfield, while the second player plays as Steve Burnside. Capcom officials could not confirm the PS2 port of the game, only saying that the company is considering the game for console conversion, as it does with all its arcade products.
Resident Evil: Gun Survivor 2 was codeveloped with Namco and released in the arcades on Sega's Naomi board. Several retail outlets have the game listed as a November release. GameSpot will have more on the console fate of Gun Survivor 2 as further information becomes available.
