The new details about Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming horror anthology series have been revealed. The show, which was previously known as 10 After Midnight, will now be titled Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities.
Netflix has also announced details of the show's cast and crew. Among the names that will star in the series are Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead), F. Murray Abraham (Mythic Quest), Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), Crispin Glover (Back to the Future), Ben Barnes (Westworld), Peter Weller (Robocop), and Essie Davis (The Babadook).
Behind the camera, the show's directors will include Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Panos Cosmatos (Mandy), Vincenzo Natali (Cube), Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), and David Prior (The Empty Man). Writers include David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight), Lee Patterson (The Colony), and Del Toro himself.
Netflix has released a synopsis for Cabinet of Curiosities. It reads, "Guillermo del Toro has curated a collection of unprecedented and genre-defining stories meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror. From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister tales (including two original works by del Toro) will be brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by del Toro."
The series has been a long time coming. It was first announced back in 2018, and there has been very little news about it since then. However, production on the series is now underway in Toronto.
As a director, Del Toro has also got two new movies on the way. His thriller Nightmare Alley, which stars Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett, arrives in December. He's also making a new stop-motion adaptation of Pinnochio for Netflix, with a voice-cast cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson. Pinnochio doesn't have a release date yet.
