Guillemot's Speedy TNT2
Guillemot's Speedy TNT2-January 2024
Jan 17, 2025 8:53 AM

Last week, GameSpot News told you about Guillemot's intentions to release the fastest TNT2 Ultra on the market and making it available exclusively to systems integrator Falcon Northwest. Today that rumor became fact with a press release issued by Guillemot, detailing its plans on co-developing such a TNT2 board with nVidia.

The Falcon Northwest Special Edition, will be the "fastest" TNT2 Ultra board on the market. Since Guillemot's own Xentor 32 and Hercules' Dynamite TNT2 Ultra are both clocked at 175MHz out of the box, the Falcon Northwest SE will have to attain speeds between 183MHz and 200MHz in order to rightfully claim that title.

"Price is not an option", Falcon Northwest president Kelt Reeves told GameSpot News. "We told Guillemot that we're willing to pay anything for this board." Regardless of the carte blanche given to Guillemot engineers, the Falcon Northwest SE is anticipated to cost only marginally higher than the US$229.99 Xentor 32.

But even deep pockets might not be enough to guarantee gamers one of these wonder boards. The chipsets' yield will determine whether or not the SE will be available for purchase as a standalone product or as part of Falcon Northwest's Mach V high-end system - and as it stands now, yields are expected to be very low.

Neither Falcon nor Guillemot could comment on the board's official clock speeds, price or availability. Falcon Northwest'' Reeves told us to expect news on the subject within a few days, however.
