Guild Wars II may have been in development for years, but it's not taking nearly that long to reach commercial success. Publisher NCSoft announced today that the pay-once massively multiplayer online role-playing game has sold 2 million units since launch on August 28. Guild Wars 2 has gone double platinum.
NCSoft said the game reached double platinum status after first-party digital sales were reopened. These were shut off for a short period to "maintain an optimal player experience."
Before Guild Wars II even launched, it sold over 1 million units through pre-purchases, accruing peak concurrency user figures of over 400,000. For more on Guild Wars II, check out GameSpot's review.
