GT Numbers Strong-April 2024
Apr 17, 2025 12:53 AM

Sales of Unreal, an increase in the number of casual gamers lured into the games market by sub-$1,000 PCs, and an increase in sales of "value publishing" products have all contributed to GT Interactive's swelling bottom line, according to GT's chairman and CEO Ron Chaimowitz.

GT says Unreal has sold over 500,000 units worldwide. And high sales of value products Deer Hunter and Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter are credited with driving GT's net revenues 13 percent higher in the quarter ending June 30.

During that quarter, GT reported net revenues of US$116 million compared with $103 million the year previous.

"For the quarter, publishing sales were 61 percent of total sales and increased nine percent as compared to the prior year. Value publishing increased a significant 22 percent while revenues from international frontline publishing rose 17 percent. Our mass merchant distribution business remained strong and increased 20 percent, augmented by sales from our affiliated label companies," Chaimowitz said in a statement.

Upcoming titles for GT include Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus for the PlayStation and PC; Duke Nukem: Time to Kill for the PlayStation; and Blood II and Deer Hunter II, both for PC.

"With the installed base of console systems reaching mass-market levels and sub-$1,000 PCs drawing new casual game players in, we believe the balance of the fiscal year will be strong for GT Interactive as well as our entire industry," Chaimowitz concluded.
