According to Microsoft’s head of Xbox marketing, Aaron Greenberg, the Xbox One has outsold Sony’s PS4 in the US the last month.
Sales numbers are based on NPD data from December 2017, and include Xbox One X sales. While Microsoft’s Xbox One console managed to outsell the PlayStation 4, the Nintendo Switch sold the most overall units in the States.
“Thank you to everyone who helped support @Xbox One this holiday, @npdgroup just reported our highest Xbox One December console share ever, looking forward to a big 2018!”, Greenberg tweeted initially.
The Microsoft executive later clarified his tweet by stating that Nintendo’s new hybrid platform, the Switch, sold the most units
“Was trying to just thank folks for supporting us and the incredible success following the launch of Xbox One X”, he said. “But yes Xbox outsold PS4 in December for Gen 8 consoles according to NPD data, while Nintendo also had a great month as Switch had most overall units.”
The Nintendo Switch has been selling amazingly well ever since its release back in March of this year, thereby beating the PS4 and Xbox One sales in the US for many months.
The Xbox One, and its enhanced brother, the Xbox One X, are available globally now.
