A lot of people were upset earlier this year when Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto IV had been delayed until April 2008. Even though the game still isn't due out for a little while longer, it's been handed an MA 15+ rating from the Office of Film and Classification (OFLC). That's one less thing to hinder the game's release!
Seasoned GTA fans will know that the OFLC and the Grand Theft Auto series haven't always been the best of friends. In 2001, GTA III was banned after its initial release because you could have sex with prostitutes, kill them and get your money back. A censored version was released soon after. To avoid controversy with Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Rockstar games censored the game from day one. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas made it to retail with hookers, but was later banned after a hidden mini-game known as Hot Coffee was discovered. Again, the game was re-released minus the Hot Coffee game.
