Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to feature some impressive visuals that will be so far ahead of those seen in Red Dead Redemption 2 that the gap between them will be bigger than that between the open-world game set in the Wild West and Grand Theft Auto V.
According to French publication Rockstar Mag, the new version of the RAGE engine that will power the new entry in the series will introduce some significant improvements in physics, passage of time, rendering quality, and artificial intelligence. Apparently, Rockstar Games is not only doing something better than any other currently available game but also something that has never been done.
The Grand Theft Auto 6 water physics, in particular, will be unlike anything seen so far, according to the report. Rockstar Games' RAGE Technology Group has designed a revolutionary system that will calculate water physics in real-time, suggesting that the ocean will have an important presence in the game's world.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will also feature improvements to vehicle physics. With a significant increase in the number of vehicle polygons, the game will feature more accurate deformations and more realistic accidents, and any damage will also impact the vehicle's handling. The game will also be the first entry in the series to feature physically simulated lighting to better represent the importance of Vice City's nightlife. The weather system will also be improved considerably over the previous entry in the series and will impact gameplay significantly.
While these new tidbits regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 definitely sound believable, we have to take everything revealed in Rockstar Mag's report with a huge grain of salt, as the publication's reports have been hit-and-miss in the past. As the game is launching no later than March 2025, hopefully, it won't take much longer to learn how much of the information in today's report is true.
