Gran Turismo 5 was announced alongside the PlayStation 3's unveiling in 2005, and it took developer Polyphony Digital five years to actually release the game.
Time for a tune-up. The studio isn't done tuning Gran Turismo 5 just yet, as series producer Kazunori Yamauchi today announced via Twitter that the "Spec 2.0" update for Gran Turismo 5 will arrive sometime during the third week of October.
While Yamauchi made no mention as to what the update will contain, he did say that new downloadable content for Gran Turismo 5 will arrive a week after the update. Like with the "Spec 2.0" update, Yamauchi did not note what form the DLC will take.
Gran Turismo 5 has shipped 6.37 million units to date, with total franchise shipments tallying 63.15 million copies as of December 31, 2010. For more on the driving simulator, check out GameSpot's review.
